Re: AFR 245 LSX Cylinder Head
Have you ever had any dyno/track numbers with this head? They look great but the springs would need to be upgraded since my cam is around 650 lift. Can you post the full flow numbers or pm them to me, thanks Ed.

Re: AFR 245 LSX Cylinder Head
thanks for the numbers Ed. They look like a strong head for sure. Any track times with these heads? My TFS 235's have me at 6.50's @ 106-107 right now at 3400lb race weight w/ a nitrous converter. Im hoping to improve those times with the next head i buy.

Re: AFR 245 LSX Cylinder Head
There are a few sets of the big 250 runner out there but none have been on the *track* per say. I originally did these up to fill the void for customers looking for a large runner 15 degree head for the popular 400+ strokers people were building for the street.
At the time the program was started, the only option was a set of $4500+ All Pro racing heads and most street-track guys balked at them. The market focus was to have a large cross section, large volume "direct replacement" LS cylinder head and using the super strong AFR castings were the ticket. I tried using the DART and Profiler castings but they fell short both in flow and casting quality. (disclaimer: Darin Morgan is/has improved the Profiler castings but I didn't have these newer pieces at the time)
These AFR heads were not built up for a particular racing "class" or other such hardcore combination but I'll bet they would do very well. When independently tested, these heads were smooth and stable up to 850" lift.

Re: AFR 245 LSX Cylinder Head
Ed: Any problem milling these about .136 thousands of an inch off the deck to 50cc? Also, how many grams do you think those 8mm valves weigh?

I'm sure I can mill them down quite a bit but the shallower chamber configuration and intake valve seat location will change the overall flow characteristics.

For the last year now. I test the fuel every couple months, and it tests okay, but sometimes it sputters a little. I'm making subtle changes, then a new dyno. Old numbers are on 93 octane. The E85 has the 42lb injectors maxed out at 7000 RPM. Otherwise it is great! Good gas mileage. There is only one pump within fifty miles and the local short-track guys use it too.
