Took the SS to the track Wed nite. Shifted 1-2 ok. Went to go into 3rd @ 6500rpm and no good. 4th also no good at 6500 rpm. Did a 2nd pass to make sure it was not just me being rusty and the same thing? Any Ideas?

Any griding or it just won't go in?

Rebuild on the tranny? I'm done for the year. Just going to drive it like it is and not race it looks like. :(

When my clutch was starting to go on me, that is exactly what mine did. May be something completely different, but just thought I would share.

Listen very carefully for synchro whine or grinding - especially if you push hard to try to get it into gear. When my pedal stuck to the floor, it wouldn't go into gear or grind... unless you pushed real hard.

Who is V_Racing?
I got a quote on a rebuild with billet parts. The clutch is new less than 1K on it. Maybe 3 months old.

I'm just going to drive it like I hate it at Camaro/Firebird day @ NED Tomorrow. I'm going to set the shift light lower. It seems to shift fine on the street up to 6K.

sorry for delay.
If I were you. I would check for bent shift fork and worn blocker rings.
I work at Chebbie dealer. I can't tell you how often I find bent shift fork and worn blocker rings.
Service Manager usually warrant these item first time only but after that it is cash job.:joy: unfortunately, I don't see them again.
GM owner(s) in south thinks they're Dale Earnhardt.:icon_roll
anyway, if you have to rebuild the transmission, then do get steel shift fork, carbon fiber friction material for syncro rings and set counter shaft & 5th gear counter shaft to 0 end play.

Tranny worked OK today, but clutch petal went spongy on my 2nd run?

Could it be that you boiled your clutch fluid?
My OEM clutch was only contacting the pressure plate on slightly less than the inner half of its diameter. I'm sure it was heating up dramatically under those conditions. My last time at the track, I logged 5000 RPM at 8 MPH in the burnout box. Stunk up the place. The throwout didn't look too thrilling when I pulled it either.

I think I did boil the clutch fluid. How do I change it and what with? The fluid looks clear, but their is black residue in the resivor.

ive just had the same problem....at high rpm its a bitch to get in 3RD and 4TH the on my last run of the night everything was sweet and did a flat change from 3rd to 4th at 6500rpm and then nothing ,zip ,gone to god ,nothing, gear shift floats around and im unable to find any gears ...as for the brake fluid in the reso for the clutch ive been told u need fliud that will handle over 650degs(dot 5-6) quote me if im wrong here..changed mine to dot 5 and its fine as with the amount of abuse i give it ..the bummer part was having to get it towed 200km home from the drags..

I'm guessing cooked fluid or weak hydraulics...
Try driving easy, then in the middle of 2nd, stomp on it and shift hard into 3rd @ high rpms...
Drive easy through the gears again, and in the middle of 3rd, stomp on it and shift hard into 4th @ high rpms...
If she goes in smoothly for both 3rd and 4th using this method, it's most likely an actuation problem with the hydraulics...
If she doesn't go into either gear, then the problem might be internal (bent fork, shift rail, synchro, etc.)

99% of the time it's the pressure plate. Is your pedal sticking to the floor on the 2-3 shift? Then you can pump the pedal back up and it shifts good until you do another high rpm pull?
What kinda clutch do you have? Is it a LS7 pressure plate and flywheel setup? If so there's your problem.
If your boiling your fluid DEI make some heat rape that will help take care of that.
