I have been trying to contact Ed but I know he is busy and the shop is waiting on me now! Sooo I figure I will ask this question here and maybe get some input.
I have the Hellraiser cam from Ed and a set of AFR 205's. What kind of headers would be my best option? I have FLPs but they have an exhaust leak and are in very bad shape so I am ditching them. I will probably keep the Y pipe however, since I can switch out ORPs and cats. Is it possible to put the Kooks headers with the FLP Y pipe? Anyone know? If that isn't possible, I also would like some feedback as to whether or not I should go with cats. As long as I stay under 5k miles here I don't need cats so that's not an issue.
Any thoughts?

pacesetter seems to be a popular choice these days.

Kooks QTP's. Last header you'll ever buy unless you need a larger primary.

I used to work for Stainless Works, and they make a good quality product as well.

Probably going to get in trouble... (like that's news)....
At PRI, those Edelbrock headers looked quite nice. As well as the "old faithful" Hooker Super Comps. If you're planning on keeping the girl, you can't beat anything made of stainless however...
F-body people are lucky with all the choices....

Seconded. My pacesetters didn't survive one winter before rusting up. (engine bay parts are still good, though) And I think they rub a little when I brake. I mean they're good for the money but if you've got a keeper then you should pay the little extra.

I bought a set of the Edelbrock Victors, and they look very nice, but I haven't put them on yet. The welds look great, the collector looks nice, all around a nice piece for the money, in my opinion. Oh, and they don't have any emissions stuff welded on, which is nice if you dont need it, but they come with all the stuff so you can weld it in yourself, and they come with O2 extensions as well.

I know this is an old thread, but I finally got around to installing my headers, and thought I'd share the experience. They are, hands down, the easiest set of long tube headers I've ever installed. They both went in form the bottom, on the drivers side, I pulled the steering shaft and it slipped right in, and then the shaft went back in with no problems. The passenger side was even easier, I didn't have to do anything to slide it in, the fit was perfect on both sides, except there was slight contact between one of the primaries on the driver side and the k member, but nothing a little cut from the sawzall couldnt cure. I definatley give them a 10. Now to see how well they hold up.

Wow I didn't realize there were all of these responses until I got a notification today.
I ended up getting the Kooks headers and Y pipe with no cats. I hope I did the right thing. They are installed and looking mighty fine:)
Hopefully I will be hearing my car within the next couple of days:burnout[1
Then to get him tuned!!!

Not that it matters much since you already purchased some, but I'm relatively happy with my SLP long tubes. Yeah, they hang lower than some and the passenger side is a PITA to get in, but you can't go wrong with stainless AND Jet Hot coating. No worried about rust here. Plus, the ability to swap cats and ORP's out when you need to is nice.
Not sure if they're worth the list price, but I came onto mine via "the other" LS1 site for sale section - 3rd owner, never installed, still in the box so I got a pretty good bargain on them.:ylsuper:

SLP headers suck. Their Y pipe is damn awsome but the fit of the headers is the worse on the market.
Best header/Y pipe for the F bodys on the market are the American Racing headers.
You can see them here.

Their design fit and quality are top notch. And that is a pretty Y pipe to.
