Saw this post on tech. Head numbers I can buy, but the intake is much, much higher than any other one I have seen. Please discuss:cheers:
Bret, Ed what are your opinions? Could this a case where the bench #'s do not translate to power??
Flow numbers from Greg Good!
These are the numbers from my bench. 28", 4.030" bore, and no pipe on the exhaust port.

Greg Good just chimed in and the numbers were for the intake port on a different bench..

Hmmmmm..... Those numbers do look familiar...
What I can do is have an outside source test flow a set I have here. They are the small bore version but totally virgin from ETP. This guy has nothing to gain by testing these since he predominately does big block Chevrolet cylinder head stuff and doesn't sell ETP parts.

Greg Good ported the heads and intake. The exhaust side didn't pass the ET numbers until .400. What is your opinion on that????

ET uses a sf1020 superflow bench. its read differently then a sf600

What exactly are you asking? Those heads were trashed due to a NOS meltdown when I inherited the engine. I had Greg go through them and he had to weld up some chambers and then he did some port work while he was there smoothing out the intake ports. The exhaust valve job is different so the flow curve is somewhat different too.
Like most heads Greg works on the car picked up quite a bit of power. Most of what he was doing was repair oriented and then smoothing out the intake turbulence since he was there and was interested in the heads.
The car gained a fair amount of RWHP as well over 50 or so but several things changed but the heads were definitely better. The power is hard to tell as it's an out car.
These same heads are also going 147 mph on Joe and Ambers NA 385 inch LS1 with the sheet metal and a solid roller.

Erik,
I wasn't saying anything bad about the heads or Greg. I thought the second set of numbers was for the ported intake. Could not believe the numbers, scary high:) Greg has mucho respect from me, turned out some very wicked heads. James day's car is a monster also.
I am very aware of this car, it did extremely well and Joe and Ambers car is just a damn monster.
Like I said, I thought these numbers were for the intake, not the heads. just caught me off gaurd.

Ok so Greg played with the intake, I'd like to see the flow numbers on the exhaust on another bench, either MLK blessed that bench himself on the exhaust or that head has at least a 1.460" exhaust venturi. Accurate exhaust flow numbers is not something you see a lot of.
Is that intake manifold numbers, so flow with the head port and intake manifold?

Bret, the second set of numbers is just head intake port numbers on a different bench.

Oh ok, so for 245cc+ it's not bad how big is that valve?

Either 2.08 or 2.10. Those are the options for the ET in that size. I don't know which one he is running...
