Hi, I am asking everyone to pass the word along to all their car buddies -
After a lot of thinking on the road this weekend I have decided to let go of my car, 1970 Formula Firebird, original 4-spd car with Ram Air hood. This is the first car I ever paid money for, it needs some work both body and powertrain and I have always wanted to bring it back to new but I figured if I haven't done so by now it is time to sell the car to someone that has the time to do so. I will make a fair sale, I am not out to make a killing on the car I just want equitable value for it. This is an EXCELLENT project, an original California car and has been in DRY STORAGE the last 15-years, there is some rust but it is minor and the floors, firewall, trunk are completely sound and rot-free; the rear filler panel will need to be replaced and the very-bottom of both rear quarters will need small patch panels. I have all receipts for the car over 20+ years of ownership, full PHR documentation too. Some specs, engine is not-original as I replaced the grenaded 400 with a 428 +.030" with forged rods/pistons, Ron Butler ported heads, Ultradyne 288/296 cam, trans is B/W Super T-10, RAM mettalic clutch, original 12-bolt rear w/ 3.73's, new tires (0-miles, 1-yr old). Motor is estimated 450-hp, 525-ft-lbs torque and was a fantastic runner in it's day and DOES run but recent attempt to drive it had engine oil pouring out the rear main seal.
For the collectibility-minded guys, in 1970 Pontiac made 45,000 Firebirds - of those 45,000 only 4500 were Formulas, and of those 4500 only 450 were 4-spd cars, and of those 450 only 45 had an open Ram Air hood. This is a factory hot-rod. I am not trying to say the car is worth a ton of money, but I am saying it is unique.
The car is in storage in Denton, TX.
Thanks to everyone in advance, PLEASE PLEASE pass the word, any help I get is totally appreciated and I am looking for a quick sale, I want the money to pay for career re-education. Pass along my cel, 254-413-3733. If I don't get any serious offers I am going to put it up for sale online very soon.
Steve :)
PS - whoever is interested, I have FULL spread of pics of the car including underneath the chassis so you can see how clean the metal is, just call me and I will email them.
