"This is hardly a new debate: pro-tax officials and state governments have been pressing Congress to enact such a law for at least seven years. They argue that reduced sales tax revenue threatens budgets for schools and police, and say that, as a matter of fairness, online retailers should be forced to collect the same taxes that brick-and-mortar retailers do."

Looks like its been going on long before Obama.

Looks like its been going on long before Obama.

It's been my experience that if I order online from a company that has a brick and mortar in my STATE that I pay sales tax. It doesn't matter if said store is clearly 200 miles away from me.

Now if some vendors here carried what I wanted I wouldn't have to buy so much stuff online. Even the specialty shops I visit don't carry what I want 95% of the time.
