Will the economy effect this event?

I am wondering if the price of fuel and the slow economy is going to effect attendance. Comments?

Most definitely. People are thinking twice about spending money on things that aren't absolute needs. For most, racing is not a profession, but a hobby. Shop are laying off people and some are closing. That said, fuel prices are dropping so hopefully people will begin seeing light at the end of the tunnel and make the trip.

I hear even on the radio people talking about "staycations" and so on. So yeah, travel is definitely depressed with the economy and inflation and I don't imagine it will be much different with the shootout.

Inflation is like a credit card - sooner or later a bill comes due, and it ain't pretty. There isn't any way out of it, either, besides to clench up and bear the consequences. If they do that, then in a year or two things will be better. If they keep trying to "fix" the problem, however, they could keep the bad times going for... well, until they give up and stop.
